Well, whatever we were tweeting about on 19th November , it certainly piqued your interest enough to get you to visit our website. Thanks for visiting. We hope you found plenty to keep you interested - all 600 of you! And, we hope you keep coming back.
#Scotlandhour was the inspiration for #Yorkshirehour so, we thought it would be nice to have the inspirational @bairdtravels as our #Yorkshirehour guest blogger. And, here is Dougie's guest blog...
Who I am
Hi my name is Dougie Baird. Born and bred in Glasgow and very proud
Scotsman. Travel is my passion. As I own Westend walks of Glasgow, tourism is important to me too. My website is all about my travels around our wonderful planet: www.greattravelpictures.com
As you may guess I`m also a keen amateur photographer.
My 8 to 5ish job I work in a steel warehouse. Oh I'm also a proud grand
father to Jessica and Carson.
How #Scotlandhour started
#Scotlandhour started about four years ago. I would post my images of Scotland every Saturday morning for around about an hour . Then I thought to myself, "Use this hash key thing." Not being a typist, I had never used a hash-key in my life but I had learned by now that on Twitter it was a useful tool. At first I used just #Scotland: #Scotlandhour came a few weeks later. An hour all about my travels at home. A few months later we had a team of tourism experts from all around Scotland.
Outsider's view of Yorkshire
As a small boy living in a big city, a lot of my spare time was indoors watching sports on a wee box telly. This is where my first love of Yorkshire came from. Believe it or not: a Scotsman that likes cricket! And, Yorkshire was my
team. Geoff Boycott was my favourite player. Since these days my love for cricket has withered a bit but still like to see Yorkshire win.
The first ever trip to Yorkshire itself was to Scarborough. We went by bus. Hopefully the bus companies have found a new route. My wife had worked the season in the Clifton hotel so see knew her way around the resort. A few years later we had a superb weekend in York. Christmas time is a great time to visit York.
In March this year we did a road trip to Yorkshire, which was fab; taking in the stunning Selby Abbey.
You can feel the passion of the people of Yorkshire . As they tweet about their business and their county. I enjoyed hearing about the Le Tour Yorkshire heading to Yorkshire in 289 days. Local events and services all tweeting on
#Yorkshirehour . Over 3,000 tweets and trending at number three. Even the @yorkshire_hour account ended up in Twitter jail (for too many tweets).
Hopefully, tourism hours will grow and we can help each other promote our part of the UK. It would be brilliant to have a Tweetup with people from all the tourism hours.
Cheers to Angie and Helen for asking me along to last week's #Yorkshirehour. And, thank you for making me Yorkshirehour's guest blogger .
What a lovely blog. Thanks Dougie!
Yes, the guest blogs are back and what a way to kick off: this is a superb read and a great snapshot of #Yorkshirehour by Carolyn Frank who tweets as @moorsinn and @LibbyButlers. Many thanks for the blog, Carolyn! If you would like to feature on the blog, please check out our guidelines.
Welcome #yorkshirehour newbies: @the_crayonbox @fluffrescue &@Helidojewels – please welcome them by
RTing, @mentioning & following them. If you are new and not mentioned – shout about it next week, and I’m sorry I missed you.
Some of us were ready and waiting before the hour with @wetherbywhaler then there were those who joined in late @LuckyDog_tod &then those who missed it like @yorksbodyclinic, as well as those who “blinked and almost missed it” like @First4logs But as we said during the hour, it’s not just about the hour itself, it’s so hectic (2,235 tweets this week – 1 tweet every 1.5 seconds!), you can’t always chat and tweet and network and Retweet and mention between 8-9pm with everyone, but the key is to follow up and get to know the others who’ve taken part – you’ve already got something in common - #yorkshirehour – so don’t be shy, make the hour work for you all week, not just on Wednesdays.
I bet we’d all like to know like @businessboots where this log cabin near Filey beach is that @utterlykaren has booked for New Year’s Eve – do share later Karen and tweet us some pics! @tom_ashurst did of Filey today – looking tropical, although we know as @SherburnInElmet tweeted, the nights are drawing in and some of us may have the heating on already?
At this time of year, we know our customers love the open fire, good homecooking and a few glasses of wine, malt whiskey (from our selection of over 30) or a pint of Yorkshire real ale, after a good hearty Autumn walk on the
North York Moors. Our cosy B&B rooms with exposed beams and comfy beds suit this time of year too, when you’re exhausted from all that walking (or game pie, lamb casserole or sticky toffee pudding!). More info www.moorsinn.co.uk Dogs are welcome too – although humans get preference for the front of the fire seats, the carpet in front of the fire is for them.
Many other hostelries & accommodation providers joined in on #yorkshirehour tonight including @monktonmasons @riverdenegroup @crownbawtry & @thedunsforth. All of them look great! A special shout-out also to self-catering #yorkshirehour regulars @theoldstationuk close to us @visitpickering and favourite local attraction @nymr
Congratulations and thanks for sharing to @fulfordflowers who reported that their business is “bigger and better” than ever – so don’t believe all you read in the papers, or hear on the news about the struggling economy, tune in to #yorkshirehour every week to hear all that is good across the region in business & let’s all shout about it!
Upcoming Events to look out for: @velofest_UK @yorkfoodfest @visityork @onourturf @visithelmsley
Finally, my personal recommendation, someone who missed #yorkshirehour tonight as she was working late @edenhouseholisitic In all our busy lives, we need some relaxation and Andrea can help you find that with various holistic treatments. Just as relaxing as a short break @moorsinn !
Going for a snack now, as @SousLeNezLeeds, @medicimacarons @gingerbreadlne_ & @yorkcakes have tweeted too many temptations tonight!
Thanks as always to @RomanticCotHols & @Aspinall_Ink Co-founders of the BEST networking hour of the week on Twitter.

My other business is www.libbybutlerjewellers.co.uk @LibbyButlers
The Moors Inn is for sale as my parents wish to retire. It is a successful business freehold in a fantastic location, so if you fancy a pub B&B of your own, give me a shout! Or ask for details from @BarryCrux who is our commercial agent. We are keen to negotiate a good price for the right buyer who will continue to grow the business with a smooth handover this year if possible.
Yes, they've been on their summer holidays but, the #Yorkshirehour guest blogs are now back in business.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along to the first ever #Yorkshirehourlive hosted by event partners, Yorkshire Sculpture Park and to our event supporters: Czerwik's, Wakefield Council, Ramsdens, John Danbury of the Magicians and Cardelium.
Just under 100 people attended the event, which for around 70 guests started with either a curator's tour of the latest exhibition in the Underground Gallery or a tour of the grounds. The networking event kicked off at 7pm with a drinks reception provided by Czerwik's of Brighouse and some fabulous magic from our compere, John Danbury. Andy, one of the Directors of YSP then welcomed everyone, followed by Hazel from Wakefield Council and local businesswoman Kate Hardcastle. I then said a few words while my husband and business partner, Richard, made sure the Twitterfall ran smoothly. Assistant event organiser, Ellen Davies (featured below with a glass of Champagne) was thanked with a bottle of bubbly and a round of applause.
Later, Kate presented me with a Customer at the Heart Award, which was a fabulous surprise.
There are more photos on our Facebook page, where you can also upload your own images of the event - and add comments.
